Silverwing Transformations and Turnarounds

Our transformations and turnarounds work is focused on the Asia Pacific and Africa markets and include a combination of the following interventions:

  • Business and operational diagnostics
  • Operations transformation
  • Cultural transformation
  • Whole of company/site transformation
  • Turning around the productivity of non/under-performing assets
  • Supporting profitable sites to significantly improve bottom-line results

Our whole-of-organisation or site-specific projects are driven by our proprietary methodology, the Phoenix Program.

The Phoenix Program

The Phoenix Program is a proven proprietary organisational improvement methodology that integrates top-down strategy, cross-level participation, and bottom-up implementation.  Originally developed for the mining sector, it identifies bottom-line-focused improvement opportunities that lead to EBIT uplift. We have tailored this methodology to suit industries with large workforces, ensuring it meets organisational objectives effectively.

The Phoenix philosophy is rooted in the belief that true organisational improvement must come from within, rather than being “injected” or externally imposed.  This is achieved through participatory focus groups that gather improvement ideas from the business’ front line, which are then prioritised and implemented with senior executive support.

The key drivers of the Program are:

  • Employee engagement
  • Cultural awareness and development
  • Capability and capacity building
  • targeted strategically significant projects.
  • Continuous improvement
  • Client alignment
  • Value creation
  • Tangible and sustainable Legacy outcomes including EBIT uplift and increased organisational capability and capacity.

Phoenix Program Diagnostic

The conduct of an initial diagnostic assessment to determine the most effective program approach. The diagnostic is intended to:

  • Gain an understanding of the organisation, its purpose, processes and people.
  • Identify bottom line focused improvement opportunities
  • Determine the most suitable approach for the content and conduct of the Phoenix Program
  • Analysis and synthesise the collected data and information in preparation for the solution design
  • Evaluate the suitability of the client for the program and whether we want to work with the potential client.

The key outcomes from the conduct of the Program Diagnostic include the development and presentation of a program solution that includes:

  • High-level implementation plan including the scope, schedule and specific outputs,
  • KPI specifications and detailed commercial arrangements
  • Term Sheet preparation and execution
  • Preparation of a detailed project management plan

We customize our advisory services to address and meet each client’s specific needs and challenges, delivering the most relevant and effective solutions available. The Phoenix Program methodology is, however, always based on four core principles:

Back-to-Basics

We believe that core disciplines and daily practices drive operational success. Simple tools make cultural and operational changes sustainable. We bring proven discipline and practical tools that work and endure within your organisation.

Enthusiastic Ownership

Improving performance is hard work but should also be rewarding and energizing. Our approach engages people at all levels by supporting them to be visible leaders. This includes recognizing individual and collective achievements as well as fostering a commitment to improvement that spreads throughout the organisation.

Value Chain Partnerships

When appropriate, we identify and engage with local and/or international partners that can add value and help achieve our client’s goals faster. We facilitate value chain partnerships that unlock value and create efficiencies; delivering increased value that is shared across the partnership.

Making Ourselves Redundant

We understand that organisations aim to improve performance independently. We coach and support people to lead improvements on their own, exiting as soon as core disciplines, capability and capacity are embedded, and results are sustainable.
